News Browser Menu Options

File menu

  • New:
    • New Group: creates a new group to manage news feeds.
    • New Channel: adds a new channel or news feed. For more on this feature click here.
    • New Folder: creates a new folder in the left hand pane, where you can add news feeds.

  • Import Channels: imports news feeds from the source specified.For more on this feature click here.
  • Export Channels: exports your current news feeds in an OPML file for use on another PC with Deepnet Explorer installed.
  • Repair Database: if you are noticing below average performance with the news browser, click this button and Deepnet Explorer will try to fix the problem.
  • Hide: keeps Deepnet Explorer running in the background although appears to be closed (to 'unhide' start Deepnet Explorer in the usual way, your session will be saved).
  • Exit: closes Deepnet Explorer.
  • Exit with options: closes Deepnet Explorer with exit and session options. For more on this feature click here.

Edit menu

  • Mark:
    • Mark News Item as Read: displays the news item title as if it has been read.
    • Mark News Item as Unread: displays the news item title as if it hasn't been read.
    • Mark News Item as Archived: marks the news item as 'Archived' so items can be ordered by status.
    • Mark News Item as Unarchived: removes the 'Archived' flag.
    • Mark News Item as Important: flags a news item.
    • Mark News Item as Unimportant: removes the flag indicator for a news item.

  • Delete:
    • Delete News Items: deletes any selected news items.
    • Delete News Group/Channel: deletes and selected news groups/channels.

  • Select All: selects all news items.
  • Find: enables you to search for a specific news item using keywords. For more on this feature click here.

View menu

  • Toolbars
    • Standard Toolbar: shows or hides standard buttons.
    • Applications: shows or hides the application buttons (Web/P2P/News) on the toolbar.
    • Links: shows or hides the links bar.
    • Favorites: displays your website favorites on the toolbar.
    • Address Bar: shows or hides the address bar.
    • Address Bar: shows or hides the address bar.
    • External Tools: shows or hides the external tools bar.
    • Lock Toolbars: locks toolbars so that you are unable to move toolbars around.
    • Customize: used to customize the buttons shown on the standard toolbar. For more on this feature click here.

  • Status Bar: shows or hides the status bar.
  • Tabs and Panels:
    • Windows Tabs: shows or hides the tabs bar.
    • Control Panel: shows or hides the application control panel (Web/P2P/News).
    • Customize: opens a window, where you can customize various settings of DE.

  • Reading Pane:
    • Right: moves the reading pane to the right of the screen.
    • Bottom: moves the reading pane to the bottom of the screen.
    • Full View: enlarges the reading pane to full screen.

  • Auto Preview: disables/enables a brief description below the title for each news item.
  • Auto Navigate: enables you to specify whether you would like to see the news page or a description and a link to a news item in the reading pane.
  • Headlines: choose this option to view headlines in the preview pane.
  • Newspaper: choose this option to view headlines and links to content in a 'newspaper' style format.
  • Full Screen: removes toolbars, menus & taskbars from view so more of the news browser content can be viewed on the screen. Move cursor to the top of the screen (or press F11) for toolbars and menus to appear.
  • Language: specify which language you would like Deepnet Explorer use.
  • Web: displays the Web Browser for viewing websites.
  • P2P: displays the P2P Browser for file sharing.
  • News: shows the News Browser screen.

Tools menu

  • Customize: used to customize the buttons shown on the tabs and sidebar. For more on this feature click here.
  • News Browser Options: used to customize the aesthetics and functionality of the news browser.
  • News Watch: a tool to set and run rules for filtering news items.
    • Customize: to set rules for filtering news items. For more on this feature click here.
    • Run: used to execute the rules set for filtering news items.

  • Clean Up:
    • Clear Deepnet Explorer History: deletes the web sites you have visited that are stored on your computer.
    • Clear System History: deletes the history of your system usage such as files recently opened.
    • Clear Cookies: deletes all the cookies stored on your computer.
    • Clear Auto Complete: deletes the history of text typed in to places on the net such as web forms and the address bar.
    • Clear Temporary Internet Files: deletes the temporary internet files from your computer.
    • Clear Website Icons: removes the web site icons that are stored in the favorites folder (irreversible).

  • External Applications:
    • Application Manager: allows you to add application shortcuts to the toolbar of Deepnet Explorer. For more on this feature click here.

  • Components Manager: used to enable/disable components of Deepnet Explorer. For more on this feature click here.

Window menu

  • Close: closes the window/tab currently being viewed.
  • Close All: closes all opened browser windows.
  • Home: navigates away from the current news item to your news feed list.

Help

  • Content and Index: opens the Deepnet Explorer help guide.
  • Online Support: opens the Deepnet Explorer support page.
  • Diagnosis Report: opens a new email message addressed to Deepnet Explorer support in your default email client, enabling you to contact us with any queries you have and also attaching information of the version of Deepnet Explorer you are running along with system and process information. You are able to remove this attachment, however it aids our diagnosis of any problems you maybe having.
  • About Deepnet Explorer: displays information about your current version of Deepnet Explorer.
